Nelson's Shantymen
Based in the Burnhams, birthplace of England’s greatest seaman, Lord Horatio Nelson, Nelson’s Shantymen are a diverse group of enthusiasts, driven in equal measure by a love of singing and a desire to keep the tradition of the authentic sea shanty alive. True to the original spirit of the shanty, a major emphasis is placed on the voice and instrumental accompaniment, this is always secondary to the natural sound of men singing to ease the burden of their work at sea.

The
Dreadnoughts
The Dreadnoughts began to play folk-punk in 2007 with a single goal: to make enough money at shows to cover the cost of shots of Fireball Whiskey at Vancouver’s notoriously seedy Ivanhoe Hotel. 15 years plus, they can boast of six studio albums, two EPs, and hundreds of unforgettable live shows spanning the globe. They’ve blended punk rock and a bunch of European folk traditions with a power and range that few other groups can match. And it’s been a blast.

Darlings
We are the Silver Darlings, an all-female sea shanty crew hauling from Southend-on-Sea in Essex. We sing shanties, songs of the sea, and ditties nautical.
Our hometown is steeped in fishing and cockling industries, which has drawn us naturally to sea shanties, the sailors’ working songs. We love the story-telling aspect of shanty-singing and we are passionately committed to ensuring that these songs remain in the public domain and are not lost at sea.
